Research Associate - Supporting Livelihoods and Conservation of Great Indian Bustard in Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan.
Project Name: Supporting Livelihoods and Conservation of Great Indian Bustard in Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan.
Location: Sam-Sudasari, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
Open Position: Research Associate No. of position: 1
Duration: 11 months contractual appointment (with a scope for further renewal based on the performance)
Qualification: PhD/MPhil/MSc in (Zoology, Wildlife, Ecology).
Work experience: 3 years of relevant experience in biodiversity conservation and research is desirable. Experience in sustainable
livelihood and other community-based conservation activities will be an added advantage.
About the project: The project aims to support the local communities amidst the Great Indian Bustard (GIB) and its habitat in Thar Desert.
The project focusses to address different threats faced by the GIB by adopting a multi-pronged approach to involve the
local communities in GIB conservation by bringing about desired change in their knowledge, attitudes & skills.
Required Skills & Abilities:
1. Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to mobilize community in local language (Marwadi-Sindhi),
Hindi, Rajasthani
2. Physically fit to work in the field under extreme weather conditions.
3. Excellent planning, problem solving, time management and organizational abilities.
4. Good analytical skills and well versed with GIS, R-studio, relevant statistical software and other monitoring and evalua-
tion tools.
5. Must have a valid driving license of two or four wheelers.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Design methodology for different project activities and guide the team to implement the work on ground, supervise the
project to ensure indicator based achievement of objectives
2. Conducting field visits to collect data/information.
3. Maintain and update the monthly monitoring to evaluate all project activities.
4. Support the other team members in preparation of reports and presentations, etc.
5. Support the other team members for programme implementation in the field as required by the Team Leader.
6. Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly and technical reports.
7. Ability to draft scientific papers
8. Develop different awareness material with innovative ideas
9. Any other work as assigned by the Team Leader.
Remuneration: Commensurate with the qualification and experience of the selected candidate.
