Project Name: Supporting Livelihoods and Conservation of Great Indian Bustard in Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan.
Location: Sam-Sudasari, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
Open Position: Project Assistant No. of position: 1
Duration: 11 months contractual appointment (with a scope for further renewal based on the performance)
Qualification: Master’s in Social Work or MSc in (Zoology, Wildlife, Ecology)
Work experience: 2 years of relevant experience in livelihood and other community-based activities will be an added advantage.
About the project: The project aims to support the local communities amidst the Great Indian Bustard (GIB) and its habitat in Thar Desert.
The project focusses to address different threats faced by the GIB by adopting a multi-pronged approach to involve the
local communities in GIB conservation by bringing about desired change in their knowledge, attitudes & skills.
Required Skills & Abilities:
1. Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to mobilize community in local language (Marwadi-Sindhi),
Hindi, Rajasthani.
2. Interest in working with local communities.
3. Physically fit to work in the field under extreme weather conditions.
4. Excellent planning, problem solving, time management and organizational abilities.
5. Good analytical skills, well versed with relevant statistical software and other monitoring and evaluation tools.
6. Must have a valid driving license of two or four wheelers.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Conduct field survey to collect the data from different villages, complete the work within given time frame
2. Conducting village meetings, individual interviews, skill-development trainings and awareness programs.
3. Collect secondary data/information from online and offline sources
4. Support the other team members for programme implementation in the field as required by the Team Leader.
5. Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly and technical reports.
6. Ability to draft scientific papers and reports.
7. Develop different awareness material with innovative ideas
8. Any other work as assigned by the Team Leader.
Remuneration: Commensurate with the qualification and experience of the selected candidate.
